How it works
- Open a PDFEvery page is shown in the editor. Scroll to the page you want to change.
- Pick a toolText adds a text box where you click. Whiteout, Highlight and Box are dragged out as rectangles. Draw is freehand, ideal for a quick signature. Image places a picture such as a scanned signature or logo.
- AdjustWith Select, click an item to move it, drag its corner to resize, press Delete to remove it and Ctrl+Z to undo.
- SaveClick Save PDF. Your edits are written into a new copy; the original file is untouched.
Signing a PDF
There are two ways. Choose Draw and sign with your mouse, trackpad or finger; a thicker line in dark blue or black looks most natural. Or sign a sheet of white paper, take a photo, crop it tightly and add it with the Image tool: PNG files with a transparent background look best. This creates a visual signature, which is accepted for most everyday paperwork such as leases, permission slips and delivery notes. It is not a cryptographic digital signature, which some legal and government processes require.
Filling in forms
Many PDFs are printed forms without fillable fields. Use the Text tool to click on each line and type. Pick the font size that matches the form and a dark colour, then zoom in on your screen to line text up with the boxes. Text you add is real, searchable text in the saved PDF, not an image, so it stays crisp when printed.
Whiteout is not redaction
Whiteout and boxes cover content visually. The original text underneath is still in the file, and someone with the right software could remove the cover or copy the hidden text. To remove sensitive information safely, cover it and then run the result through Compress PDF with the Extreme level, which flattens every page to an image, or use a dedicated redaction tool.
What this editor does not do
It does not change the existing text of a PDF. PDFs store text as positioned glyphs rather than flowing paragraphs, so rewriting a sentence in place requires the original fonts and layout engine. To change wording, cover it with whiteout and type the new text on top, or convert with PDF to Word, edit, and convert back with Word to PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. The PDF is displayed and edited in your browser. It never leaves your device, which is important for contracts and personal documents.
Can I type in any language?
Yes. English and Western European text is saved as real PDF text. Characters the standard PDF font cannot encode, such as Chinese, Cyrillic, some Central European letters or emoji, are saved as a sharp image of the text instead.
Does it add a watermark?
No watermark, no sign-up and no page limit.
Can I edit a password-protected PDF?
Remove the password first by opening the PDF with it and saving or printing an unprotected copy.
