Why this converter uses your browser's print engine
Many free Word to PDF tools either upload your document to a server or take screenshots of each page, which produces blurry PDFs where text cannot be selected or searched. This tool renders the document with the open-source docx-preview library and hands it to your browser's built-in PDF engine, the same one used when you print any web page to PDF. The result is sharp at any zoom level, small in size and accessible to screen readers, and your file never leaves your device.
Rendering Word documents outside of Word is never perfect. Text, headings, lists, tables, images, page size and margins convert well. Advanced features such as tracked changes, comments, embedded charts, text boxes and unusual fonts that are not installed on your computer may look different, so check the preview before saving.
Tips
- In the print dialog, turn off "Headers and footers" so the browser does not add a date and URL to each page.
- Set margins to "Default" or "None" in the dialog; the document's own margins are already applied.
- On a phone, use the Share or Print option and choose "Save to Files" or "Save as PDF".
- For old .doc files, open them in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and save as .docx first.

Is my document uploaded?
No. The .docx file is read and rendered in your browser, and the PDF is created by your browser's print engine.
Why does the layout differ slightly from Word?
Word's layout engine is proprietary, so other programs reproduce it closely but not perfectly. Missing fonts are the most common cause; install the same fonts for the closest match.
Can I convert several documents at once?
One document at a time, because each PDF is saved through the print dialog.
